WINTER
GALLERY

by TOM BOPP

Just across the road
there's a meadow, enclosed
by an old split-rail fence. Nice
place to ski.
Just a half-hour up the road
are the ski slopes of Badger Pass.

Just above Badger Pass,
they close the road to Glacier
Point and cut four pair of ski
tracks clear out to the end.

Ski up about a mile and
turn left to go (if you're an
intermediate skier) to Dewey
Point. Good views of Yosemite
Valley, El Capitan, and Half Dome
(in the photo on the right).

  One spring, after Badger
Pass had closed for the season,
I was lucky to be there alone after
a late storm, so I scribed some
designs on the blank slope and
made this photo.
